Illegal Executive Orders
American presidents have used Executive Orders since George Washington. He had only 8 Executive Orders, while Franklin D. Roosevelt had 3,522.
Regardless of being a Democrat or a Republican, every President has signed their “fair share” of Executive Actions. President Obama is no exception. However, many of his Executive Orders are deeply OPPOSED by many Americans and the United States Congress might be “too timid” to call the President’s hand on these.
Even using school children as a backdrop, President Obama signed 23 Executive “actions” to expand his anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment agenda. Notice, we did not say “Executive Orders,” which are commonplace among presidents, we said “Executive ACTIONS.” Yes, there is a BIG, BIG DIFFERENCE!
Executive Orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President of the United States manages the operations of the federal government. However, Congress does possess the power to OVERTURN Executive Orders.
But instead of Executive Orders, which Congress can easily monitor (and overturn), President Obama has used informal “executive actions” to enact his policies and agenda, like gun control, immigration, drone strikes, etc. These are ILLEGAL!
President Obama is exerting his political power and political muscle WITHOUT Executive Orders! And there must be a serious investigation of these illegal procedures! Congress is too compliant to the White House to say a word BUT YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE!
Obama might even end up with less Executive Orders than President George W. Bush. President Obama signed 147 Executive Orders last term, while only two this term.
That is not the problem! President Obama’s brashest political moves have not been accomplished through “formal” Executive Orders. They have come through “informal” (non-regulated) executive “actions.”
For instance, as a direct result of the Sandy Hook School shootings, President Obama created 23 separate executive actions (NOT Orders!!) to expand his anti-gun agenda and only three of them were communications through formal memoranda! The other 20 “actions” were directives that did not require the president’s signature at all, according to White House officials.
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) describes these “executive action” communications as “an affront to the process of representative government! He is circumventing Congress with a directive he may not have the authority to execute.” The administrations rebuttal to Grassley’s charge: It had the power to enforce the new policy through prosecutorial discretion.
But it comes as no surprise to Americans. In the fall of 2011, President Obama initiated his “We Can’t Wait” campaign to overcome the gridlocked Congress. That is still unconstitutional! Obama smirked: “We can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will!”
This must be stopped…. and stopped right now, by faxing Congress.
He has used executive actions to promote legislation (which really comes under the legislative branch, according to the United States Constitution!), such as:
· Cyber-security executive actions this year
· Contentious recess appointments (later cut down by the courts!)
· The decision in 2011 to stop the deportation of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. This was done through a mere memo from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who was acting under the president’s orders
· Gun control actions earlier this year following the Sandy Hook tragedy
· Directives on the conducting of drone strikes against American citizens
· Climate change directives issued Friday, March 29th!
The list goes on and on and IT IS ALL ILLEGAL! These legislative actions are not under his jurisdiction. That is the job of the legislative branch. Constitutional advocates are up in arms over the misuse of power by the Obama Administration.
President Obama will implement his socialistic agenda however he can. He is BYPASSING our system of built-in “checks and balances.”

President Obama cannot be a dictator. His powers cannot be absolute like a monarch or a sovereign. His orders can be overturned by judicial action. New laws can be passed by Congress that goes against executive orders or executive actions. Even future presidents can undo executive orders. But so-called “executive actions” are in the murky water near “no-man’s-land” and need Congress to reign in the executive branch, back to where they play a definitive, constitutional role in our government. Let’s get to the bottom of this!
