URGENT: Assange's Final Appeal! Demand Congress Stop Assange's Extradition & Drop ALL Charges!
Today, February 20th, marks the commencement of Julian Assange's hearing with the High Court of Britain to appeal against his extradition to the US. If extradited, he will assuredly face severe charges, potentially totaling upwards of 175 years. Congress, time is of the essence; it's imperative to defend the liberty and free speech of all. Halt the extradition of Julian Assange and dismiss all charges to reunite this courageous man with his family!
Today and tomorrow, Assange will stand before the British High Court where two judges will deliberate on whether he should be extradited to the United States. In the event of extradition, Assange confronts 18 charges, 17 of which stem from the antiquated and oppressive U.S. Espionage Act of 1917. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 175 years of imprisonment.
Depending on the verdict of the British High Court, Assange will either be shielded from extradition to the United States, or the United States will be granted the authority to extradite him, potentially subjecting him to trial and prosecution for the whistleblower disclosures he made alongside Chelsea Manning (who received a full pardon during the Obama administration).
Numerous government bodies, news outlets, and organizations have urged Congress to drop ALL charges against Julian Assange and prevent his extradition to the United States, a measure that should have been taken long ago.
Assange acted as a journalist to expose U.S. military misconduct, thus falling under the protections afforded by press freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. He unveiled WAR CRIMES committed by our government, such as the 2007 Apache helicopter attack by American forces in Baghdad that resulted in the deaths of 11 people, including two Reuters journalists.
Stella Assange, Julian's wife, articulates it poignantly: "Julian has been indicted for receiving, possessing, and communicating information to the public of evidence of war crimes committed by the U.S. government… Reporting a crime is never a crime." The people of the United States unequivocally support whistleblowers, journalists, and those courageous enough to speak truth to power. Assange exemplifies this ethos, and we, the people, stand in solidarity with him! We implore our Congressional representatives and elected officials to do the same!
The relentless persecution of Assange by the U.S. jeopardizes media freedom, investigative journalism, and the public's right to information, fundamentally challenging the nation's core values. To condone the persecution of Julian Assange is to endorse the notion that all media outlets must serve as propaganda machines for the U.S. government. Genuine journalism is entitled to be critical; it has the right to be inconvenient, contentious, and to hold governments accountable.
HEY! Thank you for standing in the gap and supporting whistleblowers around the world!
We at Conservative Daily encourage you to contact your representatives or send this letter, linked here: and demand they drop the charges against Assange and STOP all efforts to extradite him!
