I spent much of yesterday thinking about what my closing argument would be for the Election. I will be sending that out to you early tomorrow morning, but something just came across my desk that I can’t ignore. It illustrates exactly what is at stake in this election.
Take a long look at that picture above. That is 10-year old Kayla Gomez-Orozco. She was abducted from her church last week. On Saturday, police discovered her body in a well.
A man is being held in connection to her murder. He is 24-year old illegal alien Gustavo Gonzalez. He is currently sitting in jail on an immigration detainer and records show that he was previously deported in 2014 after he was arrested twice for “causing bodily injury.”
He snuck back into the United States and now a small child is dead and another family is torn apart.
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but tragedies like this would not be happening if Congress did its job and passed Kate’s Law. But a Democrat filibuster prevented the bill from passing this year.
Dozens of Americans have died at the hands of illegal alien killers since Congress shirked its duty. Hundreds more have been victimized. Immeasurable damage has been caused by Barack Obama’s politically correct open border policy.
Enough is enough!
Every story like this that crosses my desk adds to the heartbreak. But for the victim to be a 10-year old child makes this even more difficult to swallow.
Kate’s Law, as you know, is a piece of legislation that would add mandatory minimum prison sentences to criminal illegal aliens who are caught re-entering the United States.
If an illegal alien commits a crime in the US and is deported, they face a minimum 5-year prison sentence if they are caught re-entering the country.
Repeat offenders would see their minimum sentence double to 10 years in prison.
This legislation sends a clear message to deported illegal aliens: “If you come back and we catch you, you’re going to prison for a long time.”
The Democrats say that this law is racist and specifically targets Hispanics. No, it doesn’t get much dumber than that…
This past summer, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced Kate’s Law. The bill received 55 votes in the Senate. A filibuster led by Harry Reid kept the legislation from reaching Obama’s desk.
Five Democrat Senators are responsible for these horrible acts of violence against innocent Americans. How many more innocent people have to die before Congress does its job and passes this legislation?
Under the rules, Congress has the authority to take deadlocked legislation into what is known as “reconciliation.” Congressmen and Senators meet to work out disagreements and then vote on the legislation that emerges. When the Reconciliation process is used, legislation can pass the Senate without having to deal with filibusters.
If Congress uses this parliamentary maneuver, they could put Kate’s Law onto Obama’s desk TODAY. But they don’t want to. They are content with leaving Americans vulnerable…
The issue of immigration is the biggest differentiator in this Presidential race. Donald Trump wants to lock-down the border and deport all criminal illegal aliens while Hillary Clinton has told Wall Street in private speeches that her dream is “open borders.”
This case is a perfect example of just what is at stake. Here we have a previously deported illegal alien who has now been charged with murdering a 10-year old.
Right now, Congress can pass Kate’s Law and stop other violent illegal aliens from re-entering the United States. But it is up to YOU to demand it!
